Tabletop game

A tabletop game is a game that you can hold physically. Think, for example, of a card game or a board game. You gather at a location and simply need to pull the game out of the cupboard.

A tabletop game is well-suited for topics where conversation techniques and discussions are important. It also aids in subjects where the use of space is beneficial.

Benefits

Example

In this board game, teams collaborate to rescue turtles. All players take on the role of an island inhabitant and collectively solve dilemmas that they may encounter in their own profession.

This game was developed for an organization to clarify a complex theoretical model on organizational change. The game simplifies the model, serving as a metaphor for the working environment of the employees.

What is the development process?

Determining the learning content

Together, we discuss the needs of the organization and the employees. We examine the current situation, such as identifying the current issues and defining the target audience. With the input of content experts and the target audience, I establish learning objectives.

Developing a prototype

Based on the learning content, I create a concept: the narrative that guides the learner. I outline how the content is incorporated into it with suitable game mechanics. Afterward, I test these game mechanics to ensure the game is playable.

Testing

Once the prototype is ready, the content can be refined. The game also receives an attractive and functional design. Then the target audience can test this version of the game. After incorporating feedback from this, the game is finalized. It is then ready for printing.
