Visible changes in the work environment

Get engaged employees reaching their maximum learning potential with a tailor-made game.

“Yes, but that’s not how it works in our team.”

You offer all kinds of learning solutions, but it doesn’t connect with the needs. Employees understand that things have to be different, but they don’t know how to implement this in their own work. In the end, everything is still the same as before.

Employees attend training, but it is just too general. The examples differ too much from how things are at their own work. They broadly understand what the training was about and that it is important to do things differently. But they don’t really know how to apply this in their own work.

With a tailor-made serious game, the game matches the needs of both the organisation and employees. The game highlights the problems employees face every day, motivating them to tackle them. In addition, the game also gives them the tools on how to solve these problems in their daily work.

Preparing for emergencies

The Red Cross was looking for an interactive way to motivate people to prepare for emergencies, such as power cuts, floods or disease waves. However, the motivation to participate and adapt something was very low. There is a perception that the probability of an emergency in the Netherlands is very low.

I developed an interactive, group-based workshop in which participants work together on a case study. Using a deck of cards, they make strategic decisions in the game to prepare a fictional character for emergencies. This way, participants learn how to reduce risk and remain calm during an emergency, while practising steps that are important in their own lives for their preparation.

Change processes

The organisation “De Activiteit” was in need of a way to teach education professionals a complex theoretical model of organisational change. It was difficult for participants to fully understand and apply the model. Also, there were constantly the same discussions due to conflicting interests.

I developed a board game to make the theoretical model more accessible and interactive. In the game, participants played different roles, each with unique interests, just like in their professional lives. As islanders, they work together to save turtles while solving dilemmas that reflect realistic challenges. As a result, players gain a deeper understanding of the model and learn how to deal with different motives and perspectives in their own work environment.

Process

I guide you in developing the game from start to final product. I help determine the learning objectives, which game format fits best and I support the testing of different prototypes. I take you through this process step by step, ensuring that the game perfectly suits the needs of your employees and organisation.
